Damaris A. Chavez, Board Certified in Child Welfare Law | Pasadena Municipal Court Judge | Family Law & CPS Attorney
Damaris A. Chavez is a dedicated attorney committed to protecting her clients’ rights and guiding families through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Her mission is to provide comprehensive and sound legal counsel while empowering clients through education and clear communication about the law. While she encourages the resolution of disputes through skilled negotiation and mediation, she is always prepared to advocate strongly and effectively in the courtroom when necessary.
Attorney Chavez practices primarily in Family Law, Child Welfare (CPS), Immigration, and Personal Injury. Since opening the Law Office of Damaris A. Chavez in August 2013, she has represented clients in a wide variety of complex legal matters and has built a reputation for strong advocacy and compassionate representation. Many of her clients come through referrals from former clients and colleagues who trust her experience and dedication.
In 2022, Ms. Chavez became Board Certified in Child Welfare Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction earned by only a small percentage of attorneys in Texas. This certification recognizes advanced expertise in legal matters involving Child Protective Services (CPS), parental rights, abuse and neglect cases, and other legal issues affecting children and families.

In addition to her work as an advocate, Ms. Chavez brings valuable judicial insight to her practice. Since 2020, she has served as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Pasadena, where she presides over matters requiring fairness, sound judgment, and careful evaluation of the law and evidence. Her experience on the bench provides her with a unique perspective into how courts analyze cases and make decisions, which benefits the clients she represents.
Ms. Chavez is also actively involved in the legal profession and her community. In 2025, she began serving on the Board of the Houston Bar Association Family Law Section, where she collaborates with fellow attorneys to promote excellence in the practice of family law.
Beyond her legal work, she is committed to supporting organizations that strengthen families and empower children. She serves on the board of Communities In Schools – Southeast Harris County, which provides resources and support to help students stay in school and succeed academically. She is also a board member of CYCLE (Changing Young Children’s Lives through Education), a nonprofit organization that motivates children to achieve their literacy goals by rewarding their academic success with bicycles.
Attorney Chavez’s commitment to her clients, the legal profession, and her community has helped establish her as a trusted advocate in the Pasadena and greater Houston area. She represents clients throughout Harris County, surrounding counties, and across Texas, and is dedicated to providing thoughtful, strategic, and compassionate legal representation.
